ABOUT RECONNECT

Reconnecting people with the foundations of health.

Rooted in real food. Growing toward a more connected way of living.

OUR PURPOSE

Health is personal.
Connection is powerful.

Neighbors sharing the harvest in a community garden

Reconnect is the evolving community-facing initiative of Reconnecting with Real Food, a nonprofit organization established to expand access to practical nutrition education and health-supporting resources.

Our work is grounded in a simple observation: many people have become disconnected from the very things that help them care for themselves.

We may know that movement matters without knowing how to move comfortably. We may hear conflicting advice about nutrition without understanding how to choose or prepare nourishing food. We may spend most of our days indoors, overwhelmed by information and separated from the natural rhythms of life.

Information alone is not enough.

People need opportunities to experience, understand, and apply what they learn.

01

Our Mission

To expand access to practical health education and community experiences that reconnect people with their bodies, nourishing food, nature, and one another.

02

Our Vision

Communities where people of all ages and backgrounds have the knowledge, resources, confidence, and opportunities to participate in their own well-being.

LEARNING THAT BECOMES LIVING

Our Approach: Awareness → Understanding → Action

01

Awareness

We begin by inviting people to notice their own experience through movement, breath, sensory exploration, and observation.

02

Understanding

We build practical health literacy around food, movement, stress, recovery, and the environments that influence our daily lives.

03

Action

We create opportunities to apply that knowledge through accessible classes, workshops, food experiences, gardening, community partnerships, and simple practices people can continue independently.

Our goal is not to prescribe a perfect lifestyle. It's to help people discover tools they can understand, use, and adapt to their own lives.

WHERE WE BEGAN

Our History

Reconnecting with Real Food was established around four guiding principles: Realistic, Real Nutrition, Real Food, and Readily Available.

The organization's early vision included community support groups, a virtual real-food pantry, and a holistic health information library.

Reconnect carries that original mission forward while developing a broader approach to community health—one that recognizes the connections among food, movement, the nervous system, nature, and belonging.

THE FOUR R'S
01

Realistic — Approaches that fit into everyday life.

02

Real Nutrition — Understanding nourishment beyond trends, labels, and marketing.

03

Real Food — Reconnecting with food in its recognizable, nourishing forms.

04

Readily Available — Working to reduce barriers to knowledge, resources, and participation.

Meet the Founder

Stephanie Spurgeon

Founder | Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner | Yoga Instructor | Health Educator

Stephanie brings together a background in psychology, community development, nutrition education, yoga, and somatic movement.

Her work explores how people learn about their health, develop body awareness, and translate information into meaningful everyday practices.

As a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and yoga instructor with SATYA somatic movement training, Stephanie is interested in making complex health concepts understandable and experiential.

Through Reconnect, she aims to bring these tools beyond individual instruction and into community settings, creating opportunities for people to reconnect with themselves, one another, and the foundations of well-being.

Our Commitment

We aim to create welcoming learning environments that respect individual differences, financial circumstances, cultural backgrounds, physical abilities, and personal experiences.

Participation is invitational, adaptable, and centered on each person's capacity and choice.
